just for the record the most recent Bam is discussed here

viewtopic.php?nomobile=1&f=86&t=3249&p=89714&hilit=V246#p89714

Recent shadow fixes are as follows:
-shadow map generation error: some missing objects on shadow map if table was run with FP light system (in most cases missing ramps, like in VUK demo table)
- shadow map generation error: removed shadow casted by glass of flasher.
- shadow map generation: in BAM menu limit for Spotlight range of flasher is changed from 10.0 to 1000.0
-shadow-map creation - transparent objects can now pass some light (again)
- shadow-map creation - switch used to hide flipper works.
- shadow-map creation is now %20 faster.

I wonder if it has something to do with the default.cfg? If SLAM says that the table requires the New renderer and dark night to produce the shadow maps, and no other table uses them yet, the default.cfg is saved as whatever your previous settings were.

It's one of the only explanations I can think of as to why after I deleted my BAM folder (other than the cfg and xml folders) and reinstalled, and then restarted the PC, it worked fine. The interesting thing is now when the table loads and you see all the text of BAM loading it ends after soccer ball. When I was getting crashes it would crash on shadow map 1/17 Bulb1.

Not sure about this table and I am away from my computer..but when I was adding new shadow maps to a table I was working on and copied the new script and saved table...the first reload would ALWAYS crash when processing the first shadow.
If I then exited FP and BAM then reloaded everything worked fine..

So far, not working for me with the newer BAM

I've installed the newest all in one BAM setup Version 247 from ravearcade.
It was installed to C:/Games/Future Pinball
I have copied Slam'S table to the table folder.
I startded BAM with admin rights.
Afterloading it crashes by creating the cache. 1/17
My Nvidia Laptop card driver was crashed after the end also.

The cache wich was created with BAM 238 works in BAM247 if i copy the Folder to the new
installed one.

Maybe it has to do with older Nvidia Cards.

This tells me it is crashing when it is saving the first shadow map and creating the "Cache" folder. The shadow maps are saved there as a zip file with the same name as the table. After you have played the table one time, BAM pulls the previously saved shadow maps and it will only display a message that it is opening shadow maps and does not go through each bulb that has a shadow map.

C:\Games\Future Pinball\BAM\Cache

Try seeing if you have the Cache folder. If don't have it, try manually creating a Cache folder and then try playing the table again. It might be having trouble creating the new folder.

If you have the folder, see if there are any zip files inside.

Great idea

So I've added this feature to my newest release - Star Trek Condition Red (ver 1.02). Simply hold both flippers up for 3 seconds and the game will instantly switch back to the original game with all the original sounds and rules. Hold both flippers again and the remastered version comes back.

I still have not been able to play this table...I think bam and nvidia card have conflict

For everyone having issues playing this game, get ravs email address from ravarcade.com and send him your Bam Crash log, if everyones tables are crashing for the same reason then maybe he will come up with a new fix.

Otherwise, make sure FPLoader.exe is set to run as administrator, also what worked for me was a full reinstall of BAM. I didn't overwrite my existing version, I deleted it and installed it again from scratch and then it worked.

So far I seem to be the only person who has been able to get it working after it crashed.

That's the solution...

and this is very strange, I asked Rav, a solution, so who has the same problem mine, that is who has an n-videa ..... aspects.

Crashing on shadow generation.

- i don't have any problems on GTX 1050 Ti and i can't reproduce error/crash.
- i checked GPU Load (with GPU-Z) when i play this table. It never goes above 25%, but when shadows are calculated it jumps to 100% and GPU temperture is rising... so maybe it is problem only for old cards? Maybe underclockig for GPU core/memory may help.
- right now problems occurs on GTS 460 SE (9 years old card) and GT 425M (9 years old).
- if you have BAM_CRASH.log and at begin you have lines:
Code:
       SBC: -1
       NFC: 0

.. then this error log will not help. This error is logged before any rendering is started. Also this error will not crash FP/BAM.
- i have access to GTX 550 (8 years old) , so i will test all on this card on monday.
- there is workaround for table devs: you can add shadowmaps to table and it will not calculated any more on end user computer:
just go to "shadow maps" menu and select "Save as TGA", you will have "table-name-shadows.tga" file in table dir (like "Star Trek ULTIMATE Pro-shadows.tga").
now add this file to texture manager on table.
BAM will use that file instead of cashe and will not generate new shadow maps.
Note: If you change shadow map generation params, you will need to generate new "table-name-shadows.tga" and import it again to texture manager. BAM will not use data generated with different params.
