An update of an old mod I worked on a few years ago and a pretty decent demonstration of what BAM and the improved physics can do now.

Latest version on my website: (sorry, I keep updating the damn thing, easier in one place)

https://speak1970.wixsite.com/slamspinballemporium

Version 1.03:

- fixed Time Warp not awarding bonus in original mode.
- fixed switching to original mode when GI lights are off now turns them back on.
- disabled ball saver and magnosave in original mode.
- fixed Warp Core Bumpers not advancing Warp Drive (was set to 20 hits instead of 10).
- fixed 'sudden stop' gate physics (mass too heavy, gravity too low). Reduced not eliminated.
- added sequence for highest score.
- added more quotes and music.
- improved some timers.

Version 1.02:

- New Feature: Hold both flippers for 3 seconds to switch between remastered version and original Bally version.
- fixed EXTRA BALL not being awarded at the left orbit lane.
- fixed match sequence playing again during attract sequence.
- Rule Update: Warp Core Bumpers now advance towards increasing Warp Speed (10 hits needed).
- small adjustment to lighting when all GI off.
- Rule Update: when EXTRA BALL is already won (1 per ball), the BALL SAVER activates instead.
If the BALL SAVER is already active then the SPECIAL is lit at the outlanes.
- fixed some quotes being cut short.
- added more quotes
.

The original Bally recreation from which this mod was created, was built by Popotte.

This project started out as an experiment at first: What if you could update an old game with new rules and sounds? It had never been done before that I knew off. And done right, they can totally transform an old game.

I call this type of game 'Modern Retro' and it's the first of many that I have worked on over the years.

The rules are simple: eliminate all hostile ships in the neutral zone.

- Release the plunger to launch the ball at the required Impulse Power level for the Skill Shot.
- Get the ball in the top saucer to advance the mission of each encounter.
- Shoot the plunger lane to increase Warp Speed. Get to Warp Nine for an extra ball.
- Complete S-P-A-C-E to activate the Warp Core Bumpers for a limited time.
- Shoot the left orbit lane to advance to the extra ball award.
- Knock down the left drop targets to advance the bonus multiplier and win the special award.
- All lanes advance the bonus. Specials are collected at the outlanes (when lit).
- A ball saver is active from the start of each new ball and can be reactivated from the left orbit lane when the extra ball is already won.
- Magnoaves will activate at the outlanes automatically when the ball saver is on.
- Winning the Match feature will award an extra ball and play continues.

I deleted all folders inside the BAM folder except XML (I have some personal XMLs in there) and the cfg folder, then I downloaded the BAM setup file from ravarcade and did a reinstall into the Future Pinball folder, then I restarted the PC and it worked. Try that, but yes I have an NVidia GTX 460 SE

I'm sorry, slam, if I say something that might bother you......but it is only to understand better, given that in another place there was talk of the famous G.I, and I did not understand anything.

as these days I'm trying to understand, the shadow map, which I believe concerns the lights, right?
I read your post on your site (EarthDate: 12th January 2019.)

I would like to ask you a question, since I think it is the first table to use this shadow map, right, if not so, someone will correct me, I apologize to him, if it is not the first.

I tried the table, and as always I try to understand...it's nice to see what you see..in this table, about the light.

here is my question, you would be kind to answer some of my questions?in two categories.....

for example....first category only for those who download and play
1)what version of bam should I use?
2)I open the table and do not have to do anything anymore?
3)I have to activate the new renderer...if yes, in which mode
4)I have to go and set something in shadow maps?
5)what kind of pc, or super video card it would take?

second category, for a mediocre builder like me, who would like to learn...
1)what kind of bulb flash of light .... yes, that in some the G.I, you can put no, instead of the yes, which is in automatic?Well, this is in another story, but I do a whole package...
2)in what positions(kind of under the playfield) do you put the lights that will then be in the list of BAM_Init ()...that will use the shadow map
3)what are these values in green
xBAM.ShadowMap "bulb1", 1000 , 1 , 2.5, 1, 3, 0.15, 0
4)the playfield texture, how it must be clear, dark, invisible ... etc ... etc.
5)for now only this, that I already have a headache :D

Hey Paolo,

This is my understanding but I am away and can't test...

-Current BAM
-New renderer
-Dark night
-Shadow maps will load automatically

-xBAM.ShadowMap "bulb1", 1000 , 1 , 2.5, 1, 3, 0.15, 0

This is code that Bam generates for you (various params as in Bam shadow menu...range,size etc...)

-any playfield texture will work that is a base texture and not one that is a fake playfield

- he is using xbam playfield texture swapping code...

-for GI he uses his triangular nano flasher in the sligshots and other flashers/bulbs around table and under playfield

- set hardware lights to 7 which is max under FP video settings

I played it with BAM_v1.4-246 and have not had any problems. I found it interesting that you did not apply shadow maps to the flashers; on to the the GI bulbs. I really like the shadow maps on the bumpers. it looks cool when the ball hits them. Nice job!

For those of you that are getting crashes, it will probably require Rav's help. You should delete the following file that is located in the BAM folder and play the table again to create a clean crash report. Then post the contents here. Rav usually needs to know some info about your system, version of Windows, CPU spec and graphic card specs.

BAM_CRASH.log

For some reason, this table generated a crash report but it didn't crash. Not sure why.

I just had a thought... Hopefully you guys that are experiencing crashes do not have FP and BAM installed in either of these 2 folders (see below). BAM saves the shadow maps to a "Cache" subfolder of BAM. If you have BAM installed in either of these 2 folders, it will crash because Windows will not let apps save files to these folders:

C:\Program Files
C:\Program Files (x86)
