I have used quite a few screen recorders and tend to prefer "Wink":

http://www.debugmode.com/wink/

It is very good with recordings that have mostly static images like when you are demonstrating how to use software. I usually preferred to use Macromedia Flash as the output format because it usually produced the smallest file size and is easily added to web pages. "Wink" saves a screen shot only when the screen changes and animates the movement of your cursor on top of the screen shot. That is why it is good for demonstrating software.

I'm not sure how well "Wink" will work with recording video games that doesn't have a lot of still images. If that is the case, you might look through this list and the comments below the recommendations. One of the comments on "Loilo Game Recorder" was interesting to me.

Gimli has recorded several pinball games. He would probably have some recommendations also.

Hi Til,

I use "Open Broadcaster Software" (OBS) - definitely worth a look in my opinion, and should do all that you need it to do.

If you have an nvidia videocard, nvidia provides a free tool called ShadowPlay (more info here: https://www.nvidia.fr/geforce/geforce-e ... hadowplay/). Nothing to install, you just have to have your drivers up to date. It's very powerful as it uses the videocard itself to encode the stream.

In FP, just hit "alt+z" to open the nvidia overlay menu.
I don't know which videocard are supported though.

My vote goes to OBS too. It's awesome and it's free. I don't know how you can beat that. Also, I think Nvidia Shadowplay does the trick as well.
