Great job George and Rav!
That was a frustrating bug!

Thanks Rafal for all the work you are doing.
------------------------------------------------
These are the lights of the new VisualPinball10.
You see the effect on and off. You can also see on the editor the two lights (like Sheapeable) one blue and the other black. The red circles are the diameters of the lights.
Here's how they can use VP lights to illuminate the slingshot.

Dear Rafal, can you do something similar with Bam?
Greetings

Gianfranco

It seems like it would take a lot of memory to calculate the distance of the lighting with shadows. ...But it is a pretty neat effect.

No george, they are just a shaped light that is cut in around the posts to look like shadows. FP can do that, but I always found that technique to be very unrealistic, as the shadows are too strong and the edges defining them are too sharp. You can get a better and more realistic effect with graphics, and you can always use a wall or decal to turn on and off with the bulbs in the code if you want.

I had a way to soften and give a more fuzzier shadow in vpx, but it's very labor intensive and most VPX authors are of the wham bam thank you Mam kind where they try and put out as many tables as they can in a short period of time, and don't spend the time to really polish things (especially the gameplay) like some of us (well, we have to) do.

Oddly enough, VP9 is actually better for that, and effects, but the Devs never added that stuff in to VPX.

1. I will not try to do anything about shadows before i finsh camera stuffs.
2. Most users plays FP without my new renderer. I don't think, it is possible to add shadows without new renderer.
3. Realtime calculated shadows are off limit. They look bad (pixelated).
4. Precalculated shadows (then table is loaded) will not work for moving objects (balls, flippers).
5. Only relative easy to do, are shadows on playfield only (like on image from franzleo).
No shadows on objects, walls, balls, ...

As? I do not know.....

I know this ...

if you use the overlap of the two lights well, you can achieve a softer effect.
Look at the shadow of the peg in the lower left corner.

I tried sometimes to use "New render", but I had the impression that the vision worsened ..... it seems to me that it becomes more attenuated .... this is just my opinion ........

Good! I calmly wait for this new lighting system :) . Thanks in advance...

Does anybody know if I can use the Kinect (v2) and BAM with a 24" LCD monitor?

I'd like to give it a test to see the head tracking but I don't have any 40" TVs to try it with. Depending on the head tracking, I might want to build a virtual pinball cabinet but I'd just like to test it first on my desk :)

Yes the size of the monitor does not matter...
Bam can be adjusted for that
There aren't many around any more..but a 3d compliant monitor and graphic card, and glasses are ideal

Hmm, I do have an older 24" Nvidia 3DVision LCD that I can use for testing. I didn't think about it but head tracking + 3D is basically virtual reality. However, I dislike the active shutter glasses but maybe I'll give it a try anyways.

(I also have an Oculus Rift and BAM in VR is really, really incredible. I don't always like wearing the headset though which is why I'm also trying BAM + Kinect)

I would try 3d first.
That by far makes the most difference.
The head tracking then gives the ability to look around objects and move toward and away from them
