Does anyone have a bulb that produces a round spherical shaped light when it is not rendered (render unchecked)? All the bulbs I have found so far have a spherical shaped area of light but they also have a halo underneath the sphere. I need a bulb without the halo. Hiding the halo is not an option because I need the bulb to fly midair and be able to see all around it.

I did not understand, you can remove the reflection or halo of the bulb, by clicking on it with the right, and selecting "sent to back"....I don't understand when you say that the light bulb flies mid-air....with a new model, I could move the center of the glow out of the bulb, and bring it under the table, but I don't know if it's the good solution.

Paolo,

When I say fly in the air, I mean to apply the bulb to an invisible surface above the playfield. I tried using the the "send to back" and "send to front" functions but it didn't help.

I made a screen shot that shows the part of the light that I would like removed:

I am not sure this is possible.

I am just saying that if this is the effect you are looking for, an Hologram might be just fine.
But I don't know your specific situation, so take it as my 2 cents.

Steve,

How do I make a light from a hologram? I was working on Monster Bash which has a model of Frankenstein that stands up. When he stands up, I make an unrendered light bulb illuminate inside his head. I was wanting to make his hands illuminate also but that round disc below the light shows up below his hand when I try to add a light there.

This is the screenshot of the MB table. I drew an arrow that points to the halo below the light that I need to remove.

Hologram is definitely the way to go. all you need is a 'on' texture and a 'off' texture.
To control an hologram via script, look at Warlock (explosion shot)
