thank you Francisco, for testing and your report...

EDIT: should be fixed now (2013-08-12)
it was quick and easy to fix. i only forgot to set the position the light - it appeared always at coordinate (0,0)

hello,
i updated the add-on again...
now there are textures and materials included (for blender internal and blender cycles)
grab the most recent blender build (blender 2.68 r59618) to have that add-on included...
Download Latest Blender Build

(but strange... i like the rendering without the textures more than with :? )
...

Nice :)
Thanks Beta for the update

Some info from here:
* Circle lights still don't work, :? couldn't test the previous one (the 2013-08-12). The icosphere shape and the coordinates are imported, but not the circle shape.

* I don't know is this feature is included, but I couldn't find a way to quick apply material/textures to plastics, without the need to convert to mesh join them and go through the UV Map. :oops:

* Models that have been textured in Milkshape works great. :D

Again Beta many thanks for the update and the tool, I usually run blender and FP now for creating tables, placing high things using blender as reference to get proper high coordinates speed all a lot, and modeling in context are awesome.

Francisco

... can you try this file
Attachment:
test - round light.zip

for me it works. do you know a table by name, where there are round lights and it is not working?

... no, not yet. these kind of objects are still implemented as curves only. curves (curve faces) are very limited in their support in blender :cry:
how i tried to map it in the add-on:
on the curve properties, there is a section "Texture Space",
...
if the object has a "cookie cut" texture, there should be:
"Auto Texture Space" - disabled,
Location:
x = (table width / 2.0),
y = (table length / 2.0),
z = 0.0
Size:
x = (table width / 2.0),
y = (table length / 2.0),
z = 0.0
for non cookie cut it should be "Auto Texture Space" - enables
"use UV for mapping" - ? (i dont know what tis option means here, because it does not have UVs and generates no such. and modifiers that needs UVs are not available for curves - no idea for what that option is good for)

and in the texture material properties, the mapping should be "Generated"
i know it is not the best solution and the add-on is in this case still bugy.

later i will implement the automatically conversion from curve to mesh with proper UVMaps...

PS.: when you have good prototypes for materials (blender internal and/or blender cycles), you are welcome to give me your suggestions.
(texture material, texture material for image light (on/off), crystal material, plastic material, chrome material, bulb lamp material, rubber material, transparency material, wood ...)
BTW: currently all texture materials emits light, thats the reason, why it looks so "nice".

I really like the stuff you do betatester, my only problem is with blender itself...simply can't wrap my head around this interface. maybe a milkshape plugin in the futur...

how is it called in english... "an old man dog don't learn new tricks" ?... :P

i know, you are an XSI man...

but i never stop to try to animate people to give blender a chance,
take a look to here (Blender Basics – Introduction for Beginners).

i think the most annoying difference to other programs is the selection with the right mouse button. but you can change nearly everything you want in the user preference settings.
mouse button, shortcut key button behavior, color scheme.

maybe i should open a separate thread:
"Blender: The (one and only) ultimate mod tool for anything 3D modeling, texturing and also DMD image/animation/sequencing/post-processing"... :P

ok you could ask me, why i don't switch to XSI... i am too old for that ... :oops:
and there is no reason why i should...
in blender, if you found a bug, if will be fixed extremely quick, when you post a bug report to the bug tracker.
in blender, you can program and integrate your own add-ons for free
e.g. a MilkShape3D importer/exporter (poooh self praise :lol: )

All working fine now. All things are imported with the textures. I only need to add the camera for the render. :D

For this render I have added some points lights and enable indirect lighting in the world tab.
