Not sure if you have seen pinDMD, but it's a USB add on that allows you to use a proper pinball DMD with pinmame.

but I'd like to use the pinDMD with FP - since several of the tables I like are in there

so, I have started working on a plug-in that will allow any FP table using a 128x32 DMD display to display it on a real DMD instead (or as well as) the screen.

early days, but I have the font based display working, need to add some more code to make the imagelist display as well, but didn;t want to add that until I had the main parts running.

attached is a pic or the DMD test table running on my cab, with a copy of the display on a real DMD.

VERY interesting, Macro. I'm really intrigued to hear how this project progresses.

I own a pindmd and its the cats pajamas so good luck with the project, we await your progress with great eagerness and excitement. Pretty impressive

status update

hopefully all the code is now written, just needs some testing to make sure I haven't made any silly mistakes. Should now support imagelists (although not many tables seem to use them) - as long as the textures for them are 128x32 - which the ones I have looked at are anyway, and the amount of work to convert them for tables that are not should be minimal.

as a sideline, the images for the image list are stored as full 24 bit colour, so when the 16 shade pinDMD2 comes out, it will be possible to display them in 16 shades, rather than the 4 I use for version 1 (or the 5 on the future pinball screen)

will hopefully do some testing later this week, and will try to get a video of it in action

I am fairly good at figuring stuff up myself but how in hell do you do that?
I mean is it possible to know what you use as a program to sniff what is send to the
graphic card? I really want to learn that stuff.

On a side note, maybe you're our guy to finally getting a ledwiz to work as well. A real DMD with force feedback on FP! That's what dreams are made of :-)
