Gimli and I have created version 2.1. It is available at:

http://www.pinsimdb.org/pinball/table-2 ... ack_lagoon

This is the list of changes. You can read the expanded version of this list on the PinSimDB posting.

Added Francisco's car mod but provided menu options for making it invisible, an option for animated cars and two still car options.
Fixed a stuck ball problem on the half circle ramp on the path to the Whirlpool by adding some kickers.
Changed the half circle ramp so it is the same width throughout its length.
Reshaped the plastic in the center of the half circle ramp and the texture for it.
Fixed the "z-fight" issue that Ravarcade identified.
Added XML files for custom physics to the script (Thanks Wild!).
Fixed a minor script error.
Added a new version for desktop PCs with a rotated display.

Gimli and I have created version 2.0. It is available at:

http://www.pinsimdb.org/pinball/table-2 ... ack_lagoon

It was a long time coming but Version 2.0 of "Creature from the Black Lagoon" has been released! This version fixes all known problems and adds lots of nice features:

1. Multiplayer works now!
2. This is a Virtual Reality (VR) enhanced version that has 12 swappable virtual game rooms (on the full room version).
3. It has a new menu system that appears on the DMD and all the user selections are saved so the same options are loaded when you close the game and reopen it.
4. A new and better plunger was installed.
5. Two save states were added: Temporary Save State is refreshed as you play and can be used for crash recovery. Stable state remains in memory until either you choose to replace it with your next save or if you clear fpRam.
6. Added Ravarcade's new high score fix which makes the table capable of handling 922 trillion points.
7. Added an easy to use method of entering your initials when you get a high score.
8. The script is set up to work with older versions of BAM or no BAM at all. Unfortunately, some of the menu items will disappear if you use an old version or not use BAM at all.
9. Implemented changes that makes Version 2.0 more closely match Bally's published rules. The most significant change here is adding Super Creature Feature mode during Super Scoring Mode. Now for the first time, the Whirlpool opens up during Super Scoring Mode which starts after hitting the right ramp quite a few times. In past versions, Creature Feature mode simply awarded some points when you hit the ramp.
10. Added " P-A-I-D " lights to the backboard to make more visible.
11. Added some higher resolution textures.
12. Replaced textures on the mock pinball tables in the game rooms with higher resolution textures.
13. Changed the Whirlpool so it usually makes 3 revolutions of the ball.
14. Did more work on fixing the ball jumping out into the playfield as it exits the left in-lane.
15. Created 8 versions of the table.
16. Fixed the lights on the night version that flickered when you use the manual camera during the attract sequence.
17. Updated documentation.

There is a detailed list of changes at the beginning of the script.

I know that the guys who build tables borrow from each other. I have to say I would like to see the menu here be used on other tables. The menu on Version 2.0 is quite elegant as displayed on the DMD. It has the needed function of saving the user settings to the fpRam file. I've used menus on other tables that were difficult to use. The menu on this table is quite intuitive.

We worked at providing what you guys wanted on the forum. That is why there are so many versions. 20degree likes Physics 1.0. Blindpeser likes Zed flippers and the night, partial room version for low end PCs. Gibsmedat likes versions without default high scores (though I included directions on how they can be added in the notes for anyone else that wants them). Gibs also reported a bug on the night version that the lights on the table flickered when using the manual camera that was fixed. TerryRed likes totally black game rooms. Skyrider reported problem of the ball jumping when it hit the left flipper was fixed.

I would like to extend a special thanks to Gimli. The fix for the multiplayer and the many other wonderful features he added wouldn't have happened if it weren't for him.

Merry Christmas!

George

*** Version 1.6 ***

1) Popotte fixed the high score problem by not using the high score list on the pause screen.
2) High scores are displayed on the DMD by pressing Special Key 2.
3) Press Special Key 1 to switch between 3 and 5 balls per game.
4) Changed strengths of the kickers located on left lane of custom physics versions.
5) Changed the shape of the divider between the left inlane and outlane.
6) Changed "constMaxPlayers" in the script to one player because of mulitplayer bug (see below).
7) Changed fames per second custom physics XML files from 512 to 296 so lower end PCs don't have a problem with fps.
8) Included directions how to add Popotte's script to any version before version 1.3.

During the development of Version 1.6, Popotte discovered a bug in the script that affects the multiplayer function. When a player earns any letters from F-I-L-M or jackpots, they are copied to the next player. For this reason, I am limiting the table so it can only be played by a single person. This bug exists in all versions of this table since version 1.1 of this table was published on Pinsimdb.com but wasn't identified until Version 1.6. Popotte and I (GeorgeH) have been unable to identify a way to correct this problem. If you know of a way to fix it, please let me know. You may either publish a new version or send the new version to me and I will correct all the versions in this download and publish it, giving you credit.

==============================================
*** Version 1.3 ***

1) new sound of better quality
2) a sound mixing control panel in the script
3) fixes of bugs in the script by Popotte
4) added a full virtual room
5) custom physics
6) fixes of several stuck balls
7) added a segmented display on the HUD
8) created a rule sheet with annotations on screenshots.

Thanks,

GeorgeH

Hey George,
I hope you get some love for your work, this took forever but I think the result is worth all the work you put into it. Thanks to all the magicans that helped you to achieve your goal. My part in this project just was really small.

Thanks guys for your comments! I felt like this is a good version but you never really know what others think until they provide comment.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

I thought the original Physics 1.0 wasn't terrible. In fact, I recreated Francisco's original physics in the 1.0 version. Of course, I prefer the custom physics version I created. I recreated the 1.0 version because there used to be a number of non-BAM users. I'm not sure if there are many non-BAM users left. Are there any non-BAM users out there (other than 20degree)?

George

Hey George, is the little jump of the ball (@ the crossover to the left flipper) a deliberate feature or a little bug (I know an invisible wall would fix this)?

Best regards

Actually I already added a short invisible wall between the divider between the inlanes/outlanes and the flippers. I added the invisible wall because the ball would get stuck there occasionally. The one on the left flipper has a small problem because the the divider between the inlane and outlanes is not aligned perfectly with the flipper. It seemed to play OK when I tested it but it does appear a bit off. You might want to move the divider a bit. You could move the flipper but it might mess up the set up of the angle on the flipper.

I will look at this if I create an update. If you decide to play with this, you might let me know what works best.

Please try the following coordinates for the invisible wall.

X=141,7292
Y=893,8438

and

X=156,1042
Y=902,0938

With this settings it works fine in my opinion... :-)

Best regards
