Part of the reason I have my screen more sunken down and parallel to the glass is so the TV's viewing angle is MUCH better...but it also works nicely with the apron to give it more depth.

Many guys will have their screen almost flat with the front almost to the glass and the back sunken. That works better for those guys who have their screens go right to the lockdown bar (they also need their screen to clear the button and plunger electronics inside the cabinet). No such luck with me as they don't sell 46 inch tvs anymore and those were the ideal for a williams widebody cabinet size.

This video talks all about reflections on your playfield and how to get rid of them using either privacy / security screen, or a custom glare guard.
I also show gameplay demos to show how the games look with and without reflections using my crazy custom glare guard and privacy screen on my MX Leds.

Your crazy glare guard really does work even though it looks rather odd from the side.

The glare might be a reason to not use glass. TV screens tend to be built to reduce glare although there is always some. Can you buy glass like they use on TVs? ...Or would it blur things too much?

If a TV uses "glass" it will usually be made of a similar material (tempered glass).

The glare is not really an issue for me...this is more for others who play. That said, while playing you don't really see the guard because of the angle at how its sits (like you see in the gameplay videos).

Real pincab owners also use metal reflection blockers for their DMDs and I assume now for their JJP and Stern cabinets.
